Greetings, type enthusiasts:

The following list was initially compiled from type profiles written by
Marina Heiss, Brian Yamauchi and myself. Quite a bit of new material has
been added: there are now approximately 500 entries.

This venture is not intended as scientific research in personality. It is
more descriptive than definitive in nature. The utility of typing famous
persons in this manner is in providing examples which literally flesh out
the type profiles. Some comparison by the reader of the constituents should
readily illustrate the variety as well as the similarities within types.

Concerning the accuracy of the types, some of them are most probably
wrong. (Brian and I, for example, continue to disagree over Calvin of
Calvin and Hobbes. We would at least agree that he is an NP.) Those
types surmised from written sources alone are arguably the less sure. I
have no quarrel with honest skepticism; on occasion I've been known to
recant.

This list, along with the sixteen type profiles, are available via
ftp, gopher or www (lynx) from the a.p.p archives at sunsite.unc.edu.

Thanks to Brian and Marina for their input, and again to Marina for
organizing and refining the list into its present form.

Enjoy,

--Joe
